Donuts Adds Another Seven Generic Top-Level Domains To The Internet, Signs 19 Additional Registrars
Domain Name Expansion Speeds Further As New gTLDs Approach The Market
BELLEVUE, Wash., Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of last week's news that Donuts Inc., a registry for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), had launched seven new gTLDs, the company said today it will launch the Sunrise phase of seven additional new gTLDs on December 3. In addition, Donuts has executed another 19 agreements with registrars who will distribute Donuts names.
The Internet's addressing system is significantly widening choices beyond current offerings, such as .COM. Donuts has applied for hundreds of these new extensions—the initial set will be followed by weekly launches of other gTLDs.
According to Donuts, the "Sunrise" period for these seven gTLDs—when trademark rights holders can secure relevant registrations before general availability—will begin December 3 and close January 31, 2014. General availability for this second set is scheduled for February 5, 2014. Donuts' gTLDs are available for registration by anyone without restriction.
