Don't Go 'Bacon' My Heart! Does America's Relationship with Grease Need More Sizzle?
New Survey from the Makers of Formula 409 Showcases America's Favorite Greasy Foods
OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- We all love partying with pizza, bacon, wings and chili, but just how hot is our love affair with greasy foods? According to a new survey from the makers of Formula 409®, it's cooling off – and not for the reasons you'd think. When it comes to reigniting the love, it's all about keeping things clean.
- More than a fling: Americans have a love/hate relationship with greasy food. Fifty-six percent of Americans love cooking greasy foods for parties, but hate the clean-up.
- The Morning After: Fifty-eight percent of Americans would entertain more if they didn't have to worry about the clean-up.
- For the Love of Clean!: Sixty-three percent say they feel great once they finish cooking something for a party, but quickly become discouraged when they see the mess that needs cleaning.
Today, October 25th, is National Greasy Foods Day and to celebrate, the makers of Formula 409 are kicking off their mission to help America reignite its greasy passion with a series of "Get Down with Grease" guides to help bring the fire back to the kitchen. Launching today, the how-to series features seasonal party guides from cooking and lifestyle experts, including Kevin Gillespie, Chef, Author and James Beard Award Finalist. The first guide, "Battle of the Beans Chili Cook-Off," is available online at www.Formula409.com. It has everything grease-lovers need to host a fun, family-friendly chili cook-off along with tips to help get off the grease at the end of the night.
"National Greasy Foods Day is a great excuse for Americans to dust off their pots and pans, fire up the fryer and get down with grease," said Kevin Gillespie, Chef, Author and James Beard Award Finalist. "We all know messes are inevitable, but it's also part of what makes cooking so fun. I'm just glad that Formula 409 is there to help make clean-up easy."
Grease Just Wants to Have Fun
The celebration doesn't stop after National Greasy Foods Day. To continue America's love affair with grease, the makers of Formula 409® Products will sponsor the Lexington Barbecue Festival on October 26th in Lexington, North Carolina and the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival on February 1st in Des Moines, Iowa. Gillespie and bloggers will also partner with Formula 409 to develop two more seasonal guides. Each one will feature plenty of cleaning tips, decorating and party ideas and a themed menu.
"It's no secret that people shy away from trying new recipes or entertaining at home because they fear the greasy aftermath," said Amy Hsiao, Marketing Manager, The Clorox Company. "This needs to change, and we're here to help make that happen. We are excited to help Americans celebrate their love affair with grease and show them how a bottle of Formula 409 makes clean-up easier!"
The Greasy Details
Here are some other fun facts to help move America's relationship to the next level:
- Chicken and Bacon…Forget the Waffles: Compared to other greasy foods, consumers feel that cooking fried chicken is most worth the mess (24 percent), with bacon coming in second at 18 percent.
- Bring on the Bacon!: Respondents indicated that if they were a professional eater, bacon (26 percent) and hot dogs (25 percent) are the top foods they would choose to eat in competitions.
- French fry Faux Pas: French fries are the least favorite thing to make for a get together (only 1 percent of Americans) while burgers and wings take the top two spots (24 percent and 16 percent).
All-Purpose Grime Fighting
The survey also found that clean-up time (42 percent) and the number of surfaces to clean, requiring too many different products (32 percent), are holding people back from cooking greasy foods more often. From the insides of cabinets to stovehoods, no kitchen surface is immune to mess. Formula 409 is not just for counters – it can clean many types of kitchen surfaces and has got you covered no matter where the grease splatters. Formula 409® Antibacterial All-Purpose Cleaner easily cleans grease and other kitchen messes, while killing 99.9 percent of germs on hard non-porous surfaces. Formula 409® is also available in Glass & Surface Cleaner, Natural Stone & Steel Cleaner and Carpet Spot & Stain Cleaner.
