Donor Alliance CEO Sue Dunn Elected Vice President/President-Elect Of OPTN/UNOS Board Of Directors
DENVER, March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sue Dunn, RN, B.S.N, M.B.A., has been elected vice president/president-elect of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN/UNOS) board of directors. She is president and chief executive officer of Donor Alliance, the federally designated nonprofit that facilitates organ and tissue donation in Colorado and most of Wyoming.
"For more than three decades I have dedicated myself to the lifesaving work of organ donation," said Ms. Dunn. "My passion for this privileged job has never wavered, and I am invigorated by what lies ahead. In this new role, I will vigorously and enthusiastically drive forward the mission of advancing organ availability and transplantation."
Dunn will serve a one-year term beginning July 1, 2017; she will then become the board's president in July 2018. As vice president/president-elect, she will also serve as vice chair of the OPTN/UNOS Executive Committee and UNOS' Corporate Affairs Committee.
Dunn currently chairs the OPTN/UNOS Policy Oversight Committee. A past member of the OPTN/UNOS board, she also has served on OPTN/UNOS committees including Membership and Professional Standards, Pediatric Transplantation and Liver and Intestinal Organ Transplantation. She is on the board of directors of AlloSource and served for 10 years on the board of HRSA's Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance, previously serving as president of both organizations. She is past president of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO), where she chaired its Legislative/Regulatory and Standards and Accreditation committees and currently is an AOPO accreditation site surveyor. She has been on the board of directors of NATCO–The Organization for Transplant Professionals and the Donor Awareness Council and also served on the organ donor task force of the National Kidney Foundation.
Dunn earned a master of business administration degree from Regis University in Denver and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
