DonnaMaria Elisa Cortezzo, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who
CINCINNATI, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- DonnaMaria Elisa Cortezzo, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the Medical field.
Dr. Cortezzo serves as an Attending Neonatologist and Pediatric Palliative Care Provider at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She has worked in her role for three years and brings extensive experience in neonatal-perinatal palliative care and pain management to her roles.
"I've always wanted to be in the medical field," Dr. Cortezzo said. "The key to my success is my ongoing drive and passion for the families and the children." Her advice to anyone looking to enter the field is to "be conscientious, and always remember what brought you into the field."
In keeping with her desire to provide the best possible care for her patients, Dr. Cortezzo holds a number of medical certifications in specialized areas, including: Diplomat, American Board of Pediatrics; ABP Board certified General Pediatrics; ABP Board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicin; ABP Board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine; Certified Vitaltalk Facilitator Diplomat; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; Respecting Choices Last Steps Advanced Planning Certified Instructor Neonatal Resuscitation Program (instructor).
Dr. Cortezzo attended College of the Holy Cross and then went on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology from Albertus Magnus College in 2003, graduating Summa cum Laude. She then earned her Medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2008.
Following completion of her medical degree, Dr. Cortezzo completed her residency in pediatrics as well as a fellowship in neonatal perinatal medicine, also at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She then completed a second fellowship in pediatric hospice and palliative care at her current hospital of employment, Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
To further her professional development, Dr. Cortezzo is a member of several medical associations, including: the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine; Section on Hospice and Palliative Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, Sections of Neontal-Perinatal Medicine and of Hospice and Palliative Medicine; the Society for Pediatric Research; American Academy of Pediatrics; Trainees and Early Career Neonatologists (TECaN); the American Academy of Pediatrics; and the American Medical Association.
When not working, Dr. Cortezzo enjoys being outdoors, working out in general, music and art – specifically landscape and wilderness-themed pieces.
