Donna Phillips is recognized by Continental Who's Who
NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Donna Phillips recently retired (April 2016) from federal service is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Government Human Resources Development. Donna was the Talent Development Officer for the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) from 2006 to 2016.
Established in 1917 as the first national civil aeronautics laboratory, Langley Research Center has grown to expand into a comprehensive, world-class center for aeronautics throughout the years. The oldest of NASA's field centers, Langley plays a pivotal role for the NASA brand.
Amassing 30 plus years of professional experience, Donna has over 20 years working in the talent development field. Her role allowed her to utilize her expertise in leadership coaching, human capital management, leadership development, program management, training and organizational development (OD) on a daily basis. During her time as Talent Development Officer Donna launched an OD program at NASA LaRC to enhance organization performance and individual development. Due to the success of this program LaRC had to double the OD staff. She was also instrumental in having a peer-to-peer mentoring program established entitled Generating Rate Opportunities for Wisdom (GROW). This program won accolades from NASA Headquarters and was recognized through a group award by NASA LaRC's Center Director.
Donna currently serves as an instructor for Retirement Training and Coaching Services, Inc. located in Williamsburg, VA. In this role she facilitates Federal Retirement Seminars across the country and provides retirement counseling to federal employees.
Donna's passion is helping women tap into their personal power and encouraging them to achieve what they believe is the unachievable. Her coaching experience has enabled her to fuel this passion by coaching young professionals and helping them transform themselves into perceptive leaders.
The Board Secretary for the Newport News Chapter of the National Association of Professional Women, Donna was recognized as a NAPW VIP Woman of The Year. Charitably, she maintains affiliation through NAPW with organizations such as Dress for Success, the American Heart Association and Girls, Inc. Outside of work, she enjoys creating jewelry and art.
In her college years, Donna earned her Master of Arts in Education and Human Resource Development from George Washington University following her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Christopher Newport University. In addition, Donna received her credentials in OD from the National Training Laboratory (NTL) Institute and a leadership coaching certification from Georgetown University.
Donna has contributed to two publications by Information Age Publishing, Inc.: (1) Managing Human Resources for the Millennial Generation; "Implications of Values of the Millennial Generation on the Human Resource Infrastructure;" 2013; and (2) Transforming Government Organizations: Fresh Ideas and Examples from the Field, "Transitioning to a New State: Consolidating Organization Resources at NASA Langley Research Center;" 2016.
Within the next year, Ms. Phillips plans to start her own business offering leadership and retirement transitioning coaching services.
