Donated Dental Services Program ready to serve Pennsylvanians

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Dental Association today announced that the Dental Lifeline Network's Donated Dental Services (DDS) program is fully operational and available to assist eligible low-income residents in finding oral health services. Last year, state lawmakers reinstated the $150,000 in the state budget needed to help sustain the program.

"PDA commends state lawmakers for recognizing the need for this vital service," said PDA President Dr. Donald Hoffman. "The DDS program bridges the gap between dentists and patients in need."

The DDS program connects patients with a volunteer dentist in their area who will provide necessary dental services for free. Two regional coordinators facilitate the program by determining patient eligibility and coordinating services with volunteer dentists and labs. The Dental Lifeline Network, a non-profit agency based in Colorado, administers DDS programs across the country. The agency provides support and access to dentists and dental labs willing to provide free comprehensive dental care for low-income elderly, medically fragile or disabled individuals.
