DOmedia Named Growth Stage Company of the Year by VentureOhio
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ad tech startup DOmedia was named Growth Stage Company of the Year by VentureOhio, a non-profit advocacy group composed of angel investors, venture capital firms and other businesses serving Ohio's startup ecosystem. DOmedia operates the largest platform for buying and selling out-of-home (OOH) media, such as billboards and other platforms both digital and traditional.
Announced last night at the third annual VentureOhio gala at the Hilton in downtown Columbus, the award recognizes DOmedia's central role in the OOH advertising industry, which has seen 22 consecutive quarters of growth. DOmedia was selected from a strong field of finalists, each recognized for their contributions to Ohio's entrepreneurial landscape.
"The out-of-home advertising industry is undergoing a real renaissance right now, and our team has put in countless hours to be on the forefront of that growth," said Ken Sahlin CEO of DOmedia. "We're seeing that dedication pay off now through additional opportunities for growth and innovation. It's a huge honor to be recognized amongst such a great pool of Ohio startups."
Several achievements led DOmedia to stand out among a competitive field of more than 80 entries into the 2016 VentureOhio awards. The firm saw 2015 revenue grow more than 450% year-over-year, announced it had processed more than $1 billion in advertising transactions, opened its industry-leading demand-side platform (DSP) to small and mid-sized agencies, and launched an integrated supply-side platform (SSP) for media vendors.
"The VentureOhio awards highlight the best of Ohio's companies being built across the state," said Falon Donohue, CEO, VentureOhio. "All of our nominees show that Ohio is a great place to build successful businesses, but DOmedia's hockey stick growth really stood out this year."
CrossChx, a medical data software company, and OnShift, a workforce management software company were also finalists in this year's competition. The previous winner of VentureOhio's Growth Stage Company of the Year award, Assurex Health, was acquired in April 2016 by Myriad Genetics for $225 million with an additional $185 million contingent upon performance milestones.
DOmedia's software powers media buys for some of the world's most iconic brands, including Allstate, Airbnb and Samsung. The firm closed a $3 million Series A round in April 2016. DOmedia's investors include Advantage Capital Partners, NCT Ventures and the Ohio Innovation Fund.
