The conference at PLU will bring Dollars for Scholars volunteers together to collaborate and share ideas about succession planning and board development, technology tools for chapters, and fundraising. Volunteers can take what they've learned at the conference back to their chapters and continue the great work that they are doing to help students achieve the dream of going to college.
Featured speakers include Sheila Edwards Lange, Vice President for Minority Affairs and Vice Provost for Diversity at the University of Washington; Alan Pratt, a family legacy advisor specializing in philanthropy and family wealth preservation; Mitzi Carletti, Investment Manager and Research Analyst for Badgley Phelps; and Tiffany Jones, senior program manager for the NELA Center for Student Success in Seattle.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to hear Scholarship America's president and CEO, Lauren Segal, speak about the future of Dollars for Scholars.
"As we celebrate our 50th year of helping students succeed, we also recognize that our work as an organization and as Dollars for Scholars chapter volunteers has never been more important. Over the last two decades, tuition for students has increased at more than twice the rate of inflation. Private scholarships are now essential for students who want to graduate without huge amounts of student loan debt," said Segal.
Dollars for Scholars is Scholarship America's original, grassroots community-based scholarship program. More than 34,000 individuals in 3,500 communities across the country volunteer their time and resources to help make postsecondary education a reality for students in their communities through scholarship awards and academic support.
