DOCS Education Issues a 'Proclamation' to Launch its 9th Annual Sedation Safety Week
SEATTLE, March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A weeklong series of dental safety events and programs will mark the 9th Annual Sedation Safety Week (SSW), presented by DOCS Education. The awareness-raising activities remind dentists to renew their commitment to patient safety, access-to-care, and advocacy on behalf of the dental patients they serve.
In conjunction with this year's Sedation Safety Week, DOCS Education released a proclamation outlining its core business principles and calling on other health professionals to likewise put into writing the missions they've been called to serve.
"We believe in the magic of a healthy smile," writes Dr. Michael Silverman, chair and founder of Sedation Safety Week. "We hold oral health to be critical to overall well-being and quality of life."
Sedation dentistry has become the mainstream choice of fearful and anxious patients. In the U.S. alone, more than 90 million adults suffer from some form of dental fear. SSW activities, which take place each year beginning the first Monday after daylight savings time, are always free and open to all oral health professionals.
This year's daily schedule is:
Monday:
Proclamations: Know Your Vision and Goals
Tuesday:

Wednesday:

Thursday:

Dr. Silverman is one of the world's leading educators of sedation dentists and a co-founder of DOCS Education. An outspoken advocate for patient safety and comfort, he launched SSW in March 2009. "We can never let our guard down when it comes to the safety and comfort of all patients," he regularly reminds his colleagues.
