Life of a Transformer Seminar offers complete transformer lifecycle training for power engineers of all experience and skill levels
WATERTOWN, Mass., Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Doble Engineering Company, a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ESE), will host its fourteenth annual Life of a Transformer Seminar from February 1-5, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. More than 600 participants from utilities, power-generating and industrial organizations, insurers, testing companies and equipment suppliers will come together for the world's leading training experience on the critical aspects of large power transformers. Regional power industry leaders, Nashville Electric Service and Tennessee Valley Authority, are the host utilities for this year's seminar.
"In the power industry, you need to fully understand how transformers work and be able to manage these critical assets," said David Zabetakis, president of Doble. "Whether it's during the basic training and refresher courses or the more advanced topics, every participant, regardless of expertise or experience, will leave the Life of a Transformer Seminar having learned something new."
This year, participants will be able to choose from five, four and three day training options. The five day program offers the most comprehensive training and includes core and advanced sessions plus Doble's signature Laboratory Diagnostics Seminar. Core topics in the four and five day programs include specifications, design and manufacturing, understanding factory test data, oil processing and commissioning – all the way through failure risk mitigation and forensic analysis. The three day Transformer Maintenance Program is geared toward maintenance professionals who work hands-on with transformers, focusing on practical steps that can be put into place immediately upon returning to work.
"Doble's commitment to educating power engineering professionals and giving them the best practices, methods and tools they need to be successful is shaping the future of the industry," said Don Hill, vice president of operations at Nashville Electric Service, who will be presenting at the seminar. "Delivering reliable power to our customers starts with an empowered, educated workforce, and we're excited to participate, alongside Doble, at this year's Life of a Transformer Seminar."
Attendees will also hear from Doug Bailey, vice president of transmission and construction at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). He will speak to the unique role TVA plays in assisting local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
Based upon attendee feedback, Doble has made several additions to the 2016 agenda, such as expanded transformer field testing sessions, including an advanced field testing course with diagnostics, plus panel group presentations about transformer bushing fundamentals, advanced insulating fluids, maintenance and repair.
Doble is also introducing a new mobile event app that will give attendees real-time conference updates as well as a map for navigating the premises. Participants can use the app to follow along with the presentations and ask questions through their mobile devices. Information on how to download the app will be provided at the event.
