RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Dec. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Stoneville® cotton seed and the growers who plant it have this in common: they're southern born and southern bred. Signup is now open for the new Stoneville Legacy Club™, celebrating both the rich history of Stoneville and the generational wisdom of the growers who make 3-plus bales. By qualifying for the Legacy Club, growers who attend their local Legacy Club event also have a chance to win a Polaris Ranger XP 1000 EPS.
How do you qualify for the Stoneville Legacy Club?
Growers must average 1,794 lb/A on 20 acres or more planted to Stoneville seed to qualify for the club. The 1,794-pound yield requirement is in celebration of the year Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin, revolutionizing the cotton industry.
"Of course entry into the Stoneville Legacy Club is based on production, but it's tailored to recognize the southern roots of our elite growers," says Jason Wistehuff, Stoneville product manager. "We look forward to honoring the growers in this new club."
Local events across the cotton belt in the spring of 2017 will honor the Stoneville Legacy Club inaugural members. At these events, growers can enter to win the Polaris Ranger XP 1000 EPS, and after all events are concluded, the name of one winner will be drawn.
"In the Legacy Club, we remember our roots," Wistehuff says. "Both our growers and our Stoneville cotton seed are deeply rooted in the cotton industry, and that history is what our local events will celebrate."
Stoneville cotton seed must be planted on 100 percent of qualifying acres between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016, and club qualification is open to all 17 cotton-producing states. Growers are encouraged to contact their local Bayer sales rep or agronomic services representative to learn how to sign up, and visit www.Stoneville.com/LegacyClub for more information.
Qualifying acres also must be verified Stoneville cotton, Authentic Stoneville Cotton that consistently meets the quality standards of the textile industry.
