Do Plastic Surgery Results Last? New Series Looks at Patients 5+ Years After Surgery
The Parker Center for Plastic Surgery's "Real Patients, Lasting Results" series shows how long cosmetic surgery results last with photos of real patients before cosmetic surgery, soon after surgery, and years later.
PARAMUS, N.J., June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cosmetic surgery can help a person attain his or her desired appearance with a single procedure, but will the results last? Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul M. Parker aims to answer this question through his Real Patients, Lasting Results series, which shows how actual cosmetic surgery patients look years after their procedures.
"Most people who consider cosmetic surgery are looking for a permanent change. Before investing in a procedure, patients want to be sure that their results can look as good in 5 or 10 years as they do shortly after surgery," says Dr. Parker, who has performed over 16,000 procedures as the medical director of the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery since 1985.
Dr. Parker adds that before and after images on a surgeon's website typically show a patient about 3 to 12 months following his or her procedure, the common time-frame for post-surgical follow up visits. "While these before and after photos do an excellent job illustrating what cosmetic surgery can achieve, they do little to answer the question, 'will my results last?'" notes Dr. Parker. "I'm delighted that several of my patients volunteered to have additional photos taken years after their procedures to help show others long-term results."
Through his Real Patients, Lasting Results series, Dr. Parker hopes he can better inform patients about what to expect after a procedure as well as clarify any uncertainty a patient may have about what plastic surgery results look like over the long term.
Each article in the series will highlight a different patient who had a breast, body or facial procedure with Dr. Parker and include:
- A brief discussion of the surgical techniques used to help create lasting results
- Photos of the featured patient before surgery, 6-12 months after, and up to 10 years after surgery to show how the results look over time
- Key information about what patients can do to maintain optimal results long-term
The first article in the series, "Do Breast Reduction Results Last (and Look Good!) Years Later?" features a patient in her mid 40s, five years after her breast lift and reduction with Dr. Parker. Other procedures to be featured include eyelid rejuvenation surgery and buttock augmentation with fat injections, commonly known as a "Brazilian Butt Lift."
New articles in the series will be published on the Parker Center's blog throughout 2014.
