DMI Earns ISO 27001:2005 Certification

BETHESDA, Md., May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DMI (www.dminc.com), a leading IT solutions and business strategy consulting firm, announced today that it has earned an International Organization for Standardization Certification in Information Security Management Systems (ISO 27001:2005).

ISO 27001:2005 is an Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard published in 2005. It formally specifies a management system that brings information security under explicit management control. DMI has earned its ISO 27001:2005 certification by implementing proven processes for mitigating risk in information security.

ISO 27001 requires that management:

• Systematically examine the organization's information security risks, taking account of the threats, vulnerabilities and impacts;
• Design and implement a coherent and comprehensive suite of information security controls and/or other forms of risk treatment (such as risk avoidance or risk transfer) to address those risks that are deemed unacceptable; and
• Adopt an overarching management process to ensure that the information security controls continue to meet the organization's information security needs on an ongoing basis.
