DKC Public Relations Represents Robert F.X. Sillerman's New EDM Ventures
NEW YORK, Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DKC is representing entertainment mogul Robert F.X. Sillerman, who previously revolutionized the radio and concert industries, in his new venture – the fast-growing and expanding electronic dance music (EDM) industry. Sillerman has made two initial acquisitions, buying Disco Donnie Presents, the EDM promoter and industry leader; and Dayglow, the production and promotions company which stages more than 125 EDM concerts annually in the U.S. Sillerman has indicated he is actively pursuing dozens of additional EDM businesses.
Sillerman previously founded SFX Broadcasting in 1992, which purchased and operated more than 120 radio stations. He sold the company's radio business for $2.1 billion in 1997. As part of the deal, he kept control of the company's live entertainment business, which he spun off as SFX Entertainment. There, he purchased and consolidated the operations of regional promoters and his company became the world's largest producer, promoter and presenter of live entertainment. In 2000, SFX was acquired by Clear Channel Communications, Inc., in a merger valued at $4.4 billion.
In recent years, Sillerman set his sights on iconic properties. In 2005, he founded CKX, Inc., which acquired the rights to the name, image and likeness of Elvis Presley and the operations of Graceland. CKX's largest purchase was its acquisition of 19 Entertainment, the company that created and owned the television show American Idol and all its international versions. Sillerman stepped down as Chairman and CEO of CKX in May 2010, but remains the largest shareholder of the company, which was recently renamed to Core Media Group.
