Division Leadership of HealthPort Forms TrustHCS(SM) and Purchases its Healthcare Consulting Services (HCS) Group
TrustHCS emerges as new, privately held services firm for clinical coding, coding compliance, cancer registry, audit, and revenue cycle integrity management.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 18, 2010, newly formed, privately-held company, TrustHCS announced the purchase of HealthPort's healthcare consulting services (HealthPort HCS) division. TrustHCS will serve the health information management (HIM), coding, audit, cancer registry and revenue cycle integrity needs of healthcare providers nationwide.

The TrustHCS transition will be "business as usual" for the former consulting services division of HealthPort. Customers will have the benefit of access to the same team of industry experts, consultants and account managers they have worked with for years. TrustHCS will utilize HealthPort's technology platform and capitalize on a fully-integrated business partnership.
The firm's mission is to effectively manage and protect the revenue integrity of healthcare providers by providing affordable, on-demand remote coding, coding compliance, audit, registry and education services. "This sale allows both companies to move forward in a more focused, targeted approach to better serve customers in accordance with each other's core competencies," says Torrey Barnhouse, President, TrustHCS. "With ICD-10-CM looming and much work to be done, we will continue to invest our time and energy in preparing our clients for this significant change," he adds.
For HealthPort, the divestiture helps the industry leader target development and deployment of new technology and service solutions for its core businesses. "As we continue to focus on technology-driven solutions for release of information, recovery audits, the exchange of health information, revenue cycle and electronic health records, it became evident the HCS division could be more focused on its strengths, clinical coding and coding compliance services if they operated as an independent business," says Larry Armold, Vice President and General Manager, Solutions Division of HealthPort. "When the division's leadership approached us with the opportunity to divest itself along with an agreement to partner for HealthPort technology and services, the spin-off made even more sense for our company and our customers," he concludes.
