DivDat Kiosk Network Welcomes 36th District Court to its No-Fee payment kiosks located throughout Metro Detroit
DETROIT, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The DivDat Kiosk Network is pleased to welcome Detroit's 36th District Court to its "No-Fee" kiosk network. It was announced today that effective October 29, 2018, individuals with outstanding debt owed to 36th District will be able to pay court fees and fines on 50 kiosks without having to travel to the downtown courthouse.
Those utilizing any of the DivDat Kiosks to pay their outstanding tickets owed to the 36th District Court may do so by either typing in their name or scanning the barcode on their driver's license. The kiosk will automatically display any balances owed. The DivDat kiosks are linked in real time with the Court's case management system, Judicial Information System, to provide amounts owed as well as printed or emailed payment receipts.
"We applaud Chief Judge Nancy M. Blount and her Court Administrator, Kelli Moore Owen for embracing this proven technology to enhance customer service, saving both time and money while also increasing the propensity of ticket holders to pay," said DivDat President Jason Bierkle. "For the first time, people will be able to pay their fines at a convenient no-fee kiosk location in their neighborhood and not have to travel downtown, pay to park, go through security and wait in a line to pay."
The 36th District Court in Detroit, one of the busiest in the state of Michigan, is the first to embrace the DivDat Kiosk Network for payment of court tickets, fees and fines. In addition to increasing collections, the program will help the court reduce costs of collections and provide other ancillary savings.
"The 36th District Court is embracing this technology to make payment methods more convenient for people and potentially increase collections," said Chief Judge Nancy Blount. "We are pleased to bring the convenience of the kiosks to this process, allowing people to use credit cards or cash to pay their fines without having to come to the Court."
The 36th District Court is the latest agency to join the DivDat Kiosk Network where some 100,000 people per month pay their DTE Energy, Detroit Water bills (DWSD), Wayne County Delinquent Taxes or Current City of Detroit taxes as well as a host of other City of Detroit bills including personal property taxes, Renter's Escrow Program and many other programs coming on line with the DivDat Kiosk Network.
"We expect earlier compliance of the Court's orders using this new technology that provides people with safe, convenient access at no fee. Also, many of the kiosks are accessible 24/7 including weekends for payments," said Court Administrator Kelli Owen.
"The Kiosk corporate and government users have worked with us to create a unique customer service model in a public-private alliance dedicated to leveling the "paying" field by charging no fees to consumers to pay their bills," said Bierkle. "We are very proud of these organizations, and we are working hard to reduce agency fees by adding additional agencies to the network and other efficiencies."
"For many consumers, being forced to pay a two or three-dollar charge for each bill they pay creates a hardship and the kiosk is one of the few places where people who prefer to use cash can do so without paying a convenience fee," said Bierkle. "The news that you can now also pay 36th District court fees and fines is being very positively received by consumers, who now have a one-stop kiosk at a local convenient place for payments."
