Distinguished Instructors And Advisory Committee Members Honored At UC Irvine Extension Annual Appreciation Event

Outstanding Leaders Recognized for Their Contributions

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of California, Irvine Extension today recognized course instructors and advisory committee members for their exceptional efforts in support of continuing education students and programs, at the 15^th Annual Instructor and Advisory Committee Member Appreciation Breakfast. UC Irvine Extension presented honors in three categories: the Distinguished Advisory Committee Member Award, the Dean's Outstanding Service Award, and the Distinguished Instructor Award.

"The individuals we honor today are the core foundation to the accomplishments of UCI Extension," said Dr. Gary W. Matkin, dean of Continuing Education, Distance Learning and Summer Session at UC Irvine. "Our successes are measured in many different ways, but mainly in how we profoundly affect our students' lives for the better. Through these awards, we celebrate the highest qualities of our course instructors and advisory members."

The "Distinguished Advisory Committee Member Award" acknowledges committee members who volunteered their time and knowledge in assisting program directors with the development of online certificate programs. Each has given expertise to improve course curriculum, providing industry insights to align the certificate programs with emerging business needs. The recipients are:

Ash Pawah, Data Science Certificate Program Advisory Committee Member and Course Instructor
Adam Porter, Human Resources Management Certificate Program Advisory Committee Member

The "Dean's Outstanding Service Award" recognizes two exceptional individuals for their contributions to UCI Extension. This year's recipients include:

Lowell Habel, Accelerated Certificate Program for Internationals Course Instructor
Delia Fernandez, Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program Advisory Committee Member and Course Instructor

The final category is the "Distinguished Instructor Award" which honors the contributions of instructors who have helped UCI Extension to remain at the forefront of continuing education and to provide students with the skills needed to advance careers in today's rapidly changing business climate. The 10 instructors who received the awards are:
