Display Week 2014 Sails into San Diego First Week in June with Talented Crew of Display Leaders and Innovators
CAMPBELL, Calif., April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Information Display (SID), announced its final program line up for Display Week 2014, which will be taking place in San Diego from June 1-6 at the San Diego Convention Center. More than 6,500 attendees from around the world are expected to converge on the city famous for its Gaslamp Quarter, Mission Bay and Top Gun, to see firsthand the trends and innovations in electronic display technology that are taking flight in the next few years.
Over the last 51 years, Display Week has become the premier showcase event for the global $100B display industry. With North America representing the largest market in the world, Display Week is the place where leading product designers learn about the next-generation display technologies that can be integrated into tomorrow's cutting edge-products. Kicking off Tuesday morning, June 3, are keynote addresses from:

Technical Symposium
The technical program runs throughout the week and consists of 60 technical sessions and an additional 193 papers at the Thursday afternoon poster session. Special technology tracks will cover OLED TV, Wearable Displays, Lighting, The Future of Electronic Backplanes: LTPS vs. Oxide TFT, and 3D.
Exhibits
Held in conjunction with the symposium, the 2014 exhibition will feature the latest display developments, many of which will bring the next generation of consumer electronics products to fruition. Hours and dates for the exhibits are: Tues., June 3: 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Weds., June 4: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Thurs., June 5: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Also on the exhibit floor, the I-Zone returns for its third year, where researchers and startups showcase cutting-edge display technology demos and prototypes.

Sunday Short Courses and Monday Seminars
The four-hour short courses presented on Sunday, June 1, offer a thorough overview of display-related topics for both engineers and scientists expanding into a new area, as well as for younger engineers and business professionals entering new fields. On Monday, June 2, there will also be 90-minute seminars on 16 different topics for those who want to learn or keep up with related advances in fields as diverse as Touch technologies, Oxide TFTs, OLED displays, High-performance LCDs, Display applications, and more.
Business Conference and Market Focus Conference Series
In collaboration with IHS Technology, this year's Business Conference will take place on Monday, June 2, and will focus on the interplay of vision, content and technology—strategies for the next-generation display market. Additionally, the Market Focus Conference Series covering Touch, Gesture, Motion and Flexible Displays will run Wed., June 4 and Thurs., June 5, respectively. These events will bring together industry leaders throughout the supply chain to explore the cutting-edge innovations, trends, challenges and market opportunities afforded with these two areas.
SID Annual Media and Analyst Breakfast
Open to all accredited media and market researchers, SID will provide a look at some of the 'must-sees' during Display Week. The presentation and complimentary breakfast will be held in the press room, Room #4, starting at 7 a.m. on Tues., June 3.
Investors Conference
Produced in collaboration with Cowen and Company, the Investors Conference returns again for its 10th year on Tuesday, June 3, and will feature presentations from leading public and private companies in the display technology supply chain.
Awards and Special Events
International SID Honors and Awards Banquet
SID recognizes individuals that have played a critical role in improving the display industry. This year's winners span various display technologies ranging from GaN-based semiconductors to PDPs. Honorees will be recognized at an awards banquet the evening of Monday, June 2, in Room #6C at the convention center.
Special Session: 50th Anniversary of PDP
At 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, is the special session: Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Plasma Display Panel. SID will offer Display Week attendees a rare opportunity to hear from and meet some of the individuals whose groundbreaking work made plasma displays possible, and learn about the evolution into some of the best television products available for over a decade. These presentations will not only offer a look back, but a look forward at some tantalizing new possibilities for plasma.
Awards Luncheon
The Display Industry Awards and Best-in-Show Awards will be presented at this luncheon, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, June 4, at the convention center. This year's luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Paul Debevec of the Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California, who will deliver a dynamic presentation titled: "Avatar to Gravity: Lighting Photoreal Digital Actors."
Special Local Event
This year's signature Display Week networking event, sponsored by Henkel, will be held Wednesday evening, June 4, aboard the USS Midway, "the largest floating city at sea." Here attendees can network while reliving 50 years of history aboard the longest-serving Navy aircraft of the 20th century.
