Disney Music Group Holds 2 Titles In The Top 5 On The Billboard 200 Chart: Walt Disney Records' Beauty And The Beast And Moana Original Motion Picture Soundtracks
BURBANK, Calif., March 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Two Disney Music Group soundtracks hold Top 5 positions on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending March 16. The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 3, with 57,000 album equivalents and Moana is No. 5 with 52,000 album equivalents, according to Nielsen Music.
Beauty and the Beast is also No. 1 on Billboard's Soundtrack and Children's charts, No. 2 on Overall Digital Albums chart and No. 3 on both Top Current Albums and Overall Physical Sales Billboard charts. The soundtrack peaked at No. 2 on the iTunes Overall chart and No. 1 on iTunes Soundtrack chart. The album hit No. 1 on iTunes in 15 countries and is also in the Top 5 overall in 45 countries. The soundtrack has over 32.9 million streams worldwide on Spotify. "Belle" is currently No. 1 on Spotify's global viral chart with 5 other songs in the Top 20. At Apple Music, "Beauty and the Beast" featuring the Ariana Grande and John Legend duet has over 3.8 million streams worldwide. The companion music video has garnered over 30 million views. Additionally, the soundtrack was recorded in 17 different languages and for the first time all localized versions were released in the U.S.
Sixteen weeks after its release, the Moana soundtrack has spent 12 weeks in the Billboard 200's Top 10, and has been certified gold by the R.I.A.A. Additional Billboard chart positions include No. 3/Soundtrack, No. 3/Overall Digital Albums and No. 4/Top Current Albums. As of March 17, the album was No.1 on Amazon's Best Sellers chart. Additionally, over 1 million combined digital tracks have been sold to date of both versions of the Oscar-nominated song "How Far I'll Go," performed in the film by Auli'i Cravalho and the end credit track performed by Alessia Cara. The film version has been certified gold by the R.I.A.A. The music videos have garnered over 500 million views worldwide. At Spotify, the album has 380 million streams worldwide.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast is No. 1 at the global box office with $357.1 million. In the U.S., the film posted $174.8 million at the box office, and is the 6th largest opening of all time.
Last week, Disney's Moana crossed the $600 million mark at the global box office. Moana was nominated for two Oscars and two Golden Globes, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("How Far I'll Go").
