Using his insider knowledge, and with a passion for the subject, Lou Ferrante visits maximum security prisons in El Salvador, New Mexico, The Philippines, Italy and Poland. Once there, Lou lives among the prisoners as just another convict in order to see beyond the everyday operations of criminal activity and to explain the origin, history, political motives, and the network of power of these feared gangs that, even from behind bars, not only can conduct business, but they grow and prosper, all while maintaining a terrorizing rule over the communities they control.
In El Salvador, home of the second highest homicide rate in the world, Lou is transferred to the Izalco Prison, which houses 838 members of the 18th Street gang, to learn the motivation behind their bloody war against rival gang MS-13. In New Mexico, Lou himself is witness to the cruel and secretive recruiting process of Los Burquenos, one of the fastest growing prison gangs in the world.
Through the experiences and accounts of someone that has lived this life himself, LA MAFIA POR DENTRO exposes the real inner operations of these groups, giving viewers a completely new and real perception of international organized crime.
