Discovery Cruise Line Announces Its 'Not 1 Cent More' Summer Pricing
Cruise Line's Pricing is Contrary to the Industry Trend
MIAMI, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery Cruise Line is the largest tour operator serving Grand Bahama Island from South Florida, carrying more than 180,000 passengers a year on that itinerary.
In January, Discovery announced its adoption of an all-inclusive approach to cruising by including in the cruise price all-you-can-eat meals and all-you-can-drink beverage service, which has become very popular with its passengers. But, there were still add-ons for Bahamian departure fees and other charges. In so doing, Discovery followed the normal marketing direction of the industry, which is to quote the lowest price available and then, in the fine print, make reference to surcharges, fuel and security charges, and other add-ons.
According to Hanns J. Hahn, Vice President and General Manager of Discovery, "We decided to include ALL charges in the advertised price to make it easy for the consumers to understand, evaluate and book our Fun Day Cruise product and Cruise N Stay Vacation Packages. Discovery offers tremendous value and we want consumers to know when we say you can have an all-inclusive Fun Day Cruise for only $99.99 that they can sail for this price with no add-ons. In January when we decided to offer our all-inclusive product our customers were pleased with the result. So it is logical to go to the next step and include any surcharges and taxes that apply so the price is the price. That is why we developed the campaign not one cent more so we can clearly communicate the entire price of what we sell.
Therefore, effective June 13, 2010, the new rates for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday sailings will be from $99.99 per person for Fun Day cruises. Two day, one night Cruise 'N Stay vacation packages will start from $139.99 per person, double occupancy. "Not 1 Cent More" will be the motto of the new advertising campaign. Weekend sailings continue to have a surcharge of $10 per person.
The ship's departure time is 10 AM and it arrives in Grand Bahama at 2 PM. During the cruise passengers enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, all beverages, multiple sun decks with entertainment and games, the new club lounge with DJ, a Wii® room with games, a kids club, and other activities, movies and more. A Las Vegas-style casino is also available. Discovery provides a vacation experience the moment you board.
Interested in bringing the kids? For Fun Day cruises, kids under two sail for only $30 and kids 12 and under sail for only $69.99. For Cruise 'N Stay vacation packages, kids under two sail and stay for only $30, and kids 12 and under sail and stay for only $85, in each case when accompanied by a full fare paying adult.
Grand Bahama Island is a unique combination of local Bahamian culture and modern conveniences. Visitors can play golf, dive, fish, Swim With The Dolphins, visit numerous tourist attractions and nature experiences, such as exploring caves, natural gardens and kayaking through untouched mangroves and crystal clear waters.
Prices are good for cruises booked by June 30 with travel taken by September 1, 2010. Certain restrictions apply and the Ship's registry is Bahamas. For information and reservations, call 1-888-377-2784 or visit www.discoverycruiseline.com.
