"Creating Change will harness the creativity, strategic thinking and generous spirit of Discovery to help local nonprofit organizations with their marketing and communications needs," said David Leavy, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications. "Discovery's greatest assets are our talented, creative employees who are passionate about supporting the community where they work and live. This initiative is another great example of that continued commitment."
Creating Change builds upon Discover Your Impact Day, a global employee day of service launched in June 2010, when Discovery celebrated its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, more than 3,000 employees in 40 offices around the globe donated their time to more than 150 community projects such as cleaning up parks, working with children, rehabilitating local schools, volunteering at animal shelters and much more. Discovery is committed to continuing these valuable programs that allow their employees to honor the company's founder, John Hendricks' original vision to make a difference by giving something back to the source of Discovery's greatest stories and most stunning images for the past 25 years…our world.
Nonprofit organizations interested in participating in Creating Change can go online to complete the application at http://impact.discovery.com/creating-change/2010/. Applications will be accepted through October 22 and selected organizations will be announced in November.
