Disabled Veterans National Foundation Reflects Upon September 11th, POW/MIA Recognition Day
WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (www.dvnf.org), a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending America's safety and freedom, is reflecting upon the significance of the month of September, most notably, September 11th. The organization is also asking the public to remember POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 20th.
September 11, 2001 was a day that will not be forgotten in the annals of American history. It was a tragic attack on the nation's own soil, something that was remarkably unfathomable prior to that September morning.
"For so many years, and for so many different reasons, our military has fought to protect us or to bring outside threats to justice," said Precilla Wilkewitz, President of DVNF. "We urge everyone to keep those who have served, or are serving, in their hearts and on their minds. Without them, our world would be a dramatically different place."
DVNF is asking the public to continue its unwavering support of both the victims of this attack, and the troops past and present who are fighting, or have fought on our behalf. It is important to remember the many veterans who have come home wounded, and are still struggling as a result of an overwhelmed Department of Veterans Affairs, and we should all do whatever can be done to assist them in their time of need.
September 20th is also POW/MIA Recognition Day. This is a day in which we should all reflect upon so many service members who have been prisoners of war or who have gone missing in action. Sadly, many have not returned, which is why this is such an important day to remember.
