HOUSTON, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Direct Energy, one of North America's largest energy and energy-related services providers, is bringing its Direct Energy Comfort and Control Plan to Texas. New or renewing customers will now have the opportunity to sign up for the Direct Energy Comfort and Control Plan, which includes a Nest Learning Thermostat™ ($249 retail value) and a six-month home cooling maintenance plan, valued at more than $50, both at no cost to the customer.
Additionally, Direct Energy will be the first Nest energy partner to integrate with Nest through the Works with Nest program in its online account management tool, MyAccount. All Direct Energy customers will now be able to access and control their Nest Thermostat within MyAccount, where they manage their energy account, pay energy bills, track energy usage and get personalized insights, recommendations and offers.
"This is a unique, engaging experience for our customers who want to be empowered with more information about their electricity use and thermostat control," said Manu Asthana, president of Direct Energy Residential. "From a business perspective, this is a great opportunity to bring together our retail electricity and services businesses to help customers save money and protect their homes."
New or renewing customers who sign up for the Direct Energy Comfort and Control Plan 24 or 36 will receive a low fixed rate over a 24- or 36-month period respectively, which provides stability in price and enables customers to experience the energy-saving benefits of the Nest Thermostat. Also included in the plans is a six-month home cooling maintenance plan.* The home cooling maintenance plan provides customers with:
- A comprehensive cooling system check-up
- Front-of-line service when scheduling appointments
- No system age restrictions
- 15% off any repair services
Robbie Wright, Direct Energy vice president of Direct Energy Digital and Innovation, added, "Today's technology is changing the electricity provider landscape. Innovative tools, more access points to information and new ways to help empower customers is what drives our business, and the Comfort and Control Plan in Texas is a great example."
The Direct Energy Comfort and Control Plan has been available to Direct Energy customers in ten states (IL, OH, NY, NJ, CT, DC, PA, MI, MD and MA).
The Nest Thermostat is compatible with most residential and small business heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The Nest Thermostat learns a homeowner's or small business owner's heating and cooling preferences to create a custom schedule for the home or small business, and adjusts the temperature when they are away. Once the Nest Thermostat learns a schedule, it can save up to 20 percent on residential heating and cooling bills according to calculations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. While professional installation of the Nest Thermostat is not required, Direct Energy professional technicians are available at 877-396-7658.
