FAIRFAX, Va., Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimension Data, the $6 billion global ICT services and solutions provider, today announced that David Danto, principal consultant for unified communications and collaboration, has been selected as an adjunct faculty instructor for InfoComm University. Danto will draw upon his more than three decades of experience in the unified communications field to lead discussions on where the market is headed and how students may guide internal decision-making processes to provide a secure collaboration experience across a wide range of devices and applications.
A leading trade association representing the audiovisual (AV) industry, InfoComm provides AV education and certification programs, designed and taught by expert faculty members that represent the entire spectrum of technical and professional disciplines. InfoComm University courses can be taken online, at the Fairfax, Virginia headquarters, at regional events around the world and at the InfoComm tradeshows. On any given day, there are more than 3,000 students enrolled in InfoComm training and certification.
As an adjunct faculty instructor, Danto is required to present at least two hours of instruction per year and received a certificate of honor for his role. At Dimension Data, Danto provides strategic technical and operational consulting services to enterprises that are seeking to implement efficient, cost-effective communications and collaboration technologies. He delivers a targeted plan on how firms may combine technologies such as telephony, messaging, online workspaces, audio/video conferencing and enterprise social media tools for a productive environment. Danto also serves as the director of emerging technology for the Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA).
"InfoComm University's mission is to support AV industry excellence through the training of professionals in need of advancing or updating their skills," said Melissa Taggard, InfoComm senior vice president for Education, Certification & Standards. "Thanks to the strong contributions and expertise of our faculty, we are continuing to serve these goals."
The InfoComm University Faculty Program was created to recognize the contributions of its instructors and to augment the professional development of those providing instruction to the AV industry. In return, InfoComm students benefit from the highest quality training from these industry technical experts. Faculty members are nominated by the InfoComm Professional Education and Training Committee (PETC) with the final selections made by the association's Board of Directors.
"The unified communications market is in a state of change, with costs dropping and an influx of new technologies. Now more than ever, educational development is critical to ensuring that communications professionals are able to identify the right strategies, solutions and services for their organizations," said Danto. "As an instructor with InfoComm University for more than a decade, I have benefited from the opportunity to share my expertise and industry experience, as well as learn from colleagues and students, and I look forward to further broadening my role as an adjunct faculty member along-side the other esteemed industry professionals appointed."
