JACKSON, Miss., Nov. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson (D-2) and Jackson Mayor Tony Yarber are scheduled to attend an $18,000 check presentation to the Corporation for Global Community Development (CGCD) November 9. The collective contribution comes from a Partnership Grant Program (PGP) award from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), BancorpSouth Bank, and Trustmark National Bank. The grant will be used to offset operational and administrative expenses.
CGCD is a nonprofit outreach organization for the Jackson Revival Center Church. The group serves the low- to moderate-income population of Jackson, with an emphasis on those living at or below the poverty level and in blighted neighborhoods. They provide a food pantry, housing and financial literacy seminars, free tax preparation assistance, an annual school-supply drive, and annual college scholarships.
PGP awards provide grants up to $12,000 to community-based organizations (CBOs) that may be used for research, organizational capacity-building, grant- and funding-application assistance, or contractual services. PGP funding allows FHLB Dallas member institutions to make a contribution to a CBO of $500 up to $4,000, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 3:1 ratio. In 2015, FHLB Dallas awarded $225,000 in PGP funds to support 25 organizations. For more information, visit fhlb.com.
