NEW YORK, Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloglovin, a platform that pulls users' favorite blogs into a single, beautiful feed, and allows them to discover the best content in fashion and lifestyle, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Joy Marcus as Chief Executive Officer. Former CEO and Co-Founder, Mattias Swenson, will continue to lead product development as the company's Chief Product Officer.

In 2007, Swenson, along with his brother and three high school classmates, created Bloglovin in his garage in Taby, Sweden, just outside of Stockholm. Bloglovin was brought to the US and received seed funding from New York based startup studio Betaworks, venture capital firm Lerer Ventures, Whitestar Capital, and other leading early stage investors in 2013. The company grew an exponential 350% in 2013, and the platform now reaches more than 12 million users, the majority being fashion savvy women.

Joy Marcus was appointed Chief Executive Officer for Bloglovin in January 2014. Previously, she held the position of Managing Director for Gotham Ventures (formerly DFJ Gotham) where she most recently led the firm's investment in DailyWorth, a digital media company targeting professional women. Prior to joining Gotham, Marcus was the General Manager, US for video website Dailymotion, leading the company through its U.S. launch to its acquisition by Orange (France Telecom) in January 2011 for $180 million.
Marcus has also held senior executive positions at Time Warner (AOL) and Barnes&Noble.com, which she helped take public in 1999. She spent the early days of her career traveling the world for MTV Networks (Viacom), working on MTV Channel launches in several countries, including Russia and South Africa.
Marcus is a recognized industry leader, named to the Hollywood Reporter's Digital Power 50 list in 2009 and 2010 to the Forbes 40 over 40 in 2013 and is one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Working Mothers of 2013 according to WorkingMother.com.
