The patent number 10163110 consists of two critical areas:
- A geo-location process using smartphones or computers for determining user location;
- An immediate response to the supplier of the application as to whether the end user responded to an offering by the supplier of that offering.
The Chicago-based firm expands the possibilities for brands to connect with consumers using data-driven solutions. The patent issued to Digital Factory will allow it to shake up the geo-location industry by offering a unique and highly-targeted consumer experience to existing and future brand partners. The patented technology is leveraged in most smartphones and computers and is popularly used for purposes of targeted offers & couponing, notifications, messaging, etc. to effectively and accurately engage with consumers via the device. The patent technology can also be used to distribute social and video content and increase readership from traditional media.
The patent application was filed in 2008 by technologist, now founder & CEO, Digital Factory, Lawrence Griffith. The patent is one of many innovations in Griffith's portfolio, his most notable being the creation of the digital coupon. Griffith is credited with the world's first scannable coupon, the first near-field communication (NFC) application in the U.S. and major innovations in mobile spacial engagement software.
