Digital Assent Expands Leadership Team to Address Rapidly Growing Demand for the PatientPad
New team members key in establishing company's national presence
ATLANTA, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Assent has expanded its leadership team to meet the rapidly growing demand for its award-winning PatientPad® solution. The PatientPad is a self-service patient check-in and education solution designed to automate the patient intake process and deliver targeted health information to interested patients while they wait. The company has added five key executives to its sales, business development, operations and product development teams.
"We've assembled an impressive team of experienced professionals to help our company deliver on the rapidly growing demand for self-service technology in the U.S. healthcare market," said Andrew Ibbotson, president and CEO of Digital Assent. "Given the massive push to convert to electronic health records and the exploding popularity of mobile touch-screen devices, we expected the PatientPad to be well-received by physicians and patients, but early demand for the PatientPad has outstripped our most optimistic expectations. The market potential is huge, and we have the team needed to capitalize on it."
Market adoption of the PatientPad is being driven by David Schwickerath, the company's vice president of sales. With more than 30 years of successful technology sales and management experience, Schwickerath is responsible for the company's overall sales strategy and execution. Prior to Digital Assent, Schwickerath served as vice president of worldwide sales for Lancope. Before this, he served as senior vice president of sales for Borland Corporation, Starbase Corporation and Technology Builders, Inc. Schwickerath has also served in executive sales management roles with Computer Associates, GE Software International and Automatic Data Processing, Inc.
Cynthia Foster recently joined Digital Assent as the inside sales manager. As such, she will oversee a rapidly growing team of inside sales representatives. In the past, she served as inside sales manager for Sciele Pharma, Inc. as well as medical education manager for Visible Genetics; also, she held various sales and customer service roles at Fisher Scientific.

She has extensive experience selling in the aesthetic market and has relationships with aesthetic practices across the country. Her career began with Eli Lilly.
Whit Lanier, vice president of operations for Digital Assent, oversees all activities related to the rapid and successful deployment of the PatientPad to physician practices and is responsible for maintaining high customer satisfaction. Lanier has a proven track record of building high-impact teams and previously held leadership positions at two other high-growth technology companies, Atlanta-based Silverpop and Berkeley HeartLab, Inc., an independent subsidiary of Celera Corp. Lanier began his career with KPMG and Accenture and holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
Mark Conlin recently left American Express to join Digital Assent as chief software architect. "Mark's experience processing and managing hundreds of terabytes of sensitive cardholder data will be extremely valuable as we continue to grow our PatientPad point-of-care network," commented Tim Collins, chief technology officer for Digital Assent. Prior to American Express, Conlin served as software architect and product manager for ePipeline. Additionally, Conlin has held relevant technology leadership roles at Answerthink, Accenture and MCI Worldcom.
This announcement comes on the heels of Digital Assent closing a Series A round of equity financing led by Imlay Investments, Fulcrum Equity Partners and BLH Venture Partners. The funding allowed Digital Assent to launch a national sales and marketing campaign, grow its leadership team and workforce, and invest in ongoing research and development, all while preparing itself for a possible second round of financing to accelerate market adoption.
