Digital Accessibility Solutions Provider SSB BART Group Launches New Mobile Accessibility Management Platform
SSB BART Group Collaborates with IBM to Provide Organizations with Crucial Testing and Analysis Capabilities across Mobile Devices
VIENNA, Va., March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In collaboration with IBM, SSB BART Group (SSB) is announcing the Accessibility Management Platform (AMP) for Mobile, an automated testing engine for native mobile applications (iOS and Android) and mobile web content designed to enhance the user experience on all devices.
The new mobile accessibility testing engine is seamlessly integrated within SSB's industry-leading AMP flagship solution, and adds the ability to perform on-device automated testing of mobile systems to AMP's turnkey solution for managing all facets of an organization's digital accessibility initiative.
SSB has incorporated IBM AbilityLab™ Mobile Accessibility Checker into the AMP infrastructure to allow organizations to deploy automated testing of mobile applications and content directly within their agile mobile development and delivery environments. This technology helps developers and designers to identify and then resolve mobile accessibility conformance defects to help their applications meet government regulations and industry accessibility standards, such as Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 508), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the 21st Century Video and Communications Accessibility Act (CVAA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
This is beneficial to developers who are actively developing mobile applications, giving them the ability to do rapid iterative testing and help identify and remediate digital accessibility concerns during the development phase. Digital accessibility can thereby be introduced at the earliest stages of development, helping to ensure that all users have the best possible experience when interacting with mobile apps and content.
"As an extension of AMP, AMP for Mobile will make it possible for organizations to deliver their mobile content and apps with the same level of accessibility and conformance governing non-mobile software," said Timothy Springer, CEO of SSB. "Leveraging IBM's expertise and research in mobile accessibility has allowed us to create a solution that gives organizations a new way to quickly develop accessible applications, and test and certify compliance, while delivering more usability and a better overall user experience."
"Our mobile world needs applications and content to be customized for every person's lifestyle, preferences, needs, and physical or cognitive abilities," said Frances West, IBM Chief Accessibility Officer. "SSB BART Group's new AMP for Mobile solution allows organizations to make accessibility a critical component of design and development, and help ensure that everyone has the same access to timely information they rely on for work and life."
As more organizations optimize their business around mobile they need to be aware that mobile content and applications are covered by the same industry standards and government regulations that govern non-mobile software and web content.
