Digisoft Turns Heads With Next Generation Virtual STB

Digisoft.tv, a global provider of HTML5 set-top box (STB) software introduced its new Virtual STB today. A pure software product which brings all the services of a hybrid set-top box to connected TVs, the Virtual STB is set to revolutionise the smart TV market by instantly removing all the CAPEX costs traditionally associated with the technology.

Meanwhile Irdeto have announced its Multi-device product set is to include Digisoft's Iris HTML5 middleware, Digisoft will also make the virtual STB available as part of Irdeto's multi device strategy.

"It's an app that gives you all the functionality of a physical STB without the CAPEX costs, it's easy to update, and delivers multi-room efficacy with a network PVR. Currently 15% of homes with cable coverage have a Smart TV and the figure is expected to reach more than 25% by 2016. Given this trend, Digisoft believes it's right to focus on commercially adept Smart TV manufacturers who have endorsed HTML5 and CE-HTML as open development standards.
