BEAVERTON, Ore., July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Digimarc Corp. (NASDAQ: DMRC), the inventor of the Digimarc Discover® platform featuring the imperceptible Digimarc Barcode for automatically identifying and interacting with virtually any media, today announced the hire of Matthew Okin as Packaging Design Director, bridging the cultural and technical gaps between product design, development, and implementation.
An industry design veteran, Okin joins Digimarc after having served as an independent consultant in for the past two years. Prior to consultant work, Okin served as Unilever's first global brand design director, where he oversaw the redesign of all Dove® products across multiple categories worldwide. He has additionally worked with some of the world's most acclaimed brands, including Ralph Lauren, Colgate®, and Trojan™. Okin helped them reach the top of their categories through innovative, iconic, and lasting design solutions. Throughout his extensive design career, Okin has been awarded patents for more than 25 product structure designs, including brands such as Dove, Pond's®, Softsoap®, Brut®, and Air Wick®.
Okin's unique background of structural and graphic design, point-of-purchase displays, and collateral materials are invaluable as Digimarc provides counsel to the industry about the packaging benefits of the Digimarc Barcode.
"Digimarc offers the industry a compelling path forward for packaging design," said Okin. "I see the Digimarc Barcode drawing consumers closer to brands through faster checkouts, ease of obtaining product information and coupons, and more accurate data. I'm excited to work with the Digimarc team and our partners to help the industry move forward with new design innovation."
"We are excited to have Matthew with his wealth of packaging and brand experience on the Digimarc team," said Sean Calhoon, vice president for product management at Digimarc. "He is a visionary global design director with an extensive background creating innovative brand solutions for a wealth of consumer products. He has worked with leading consumer and brand teams and effectively translated their desires into iconic, enduring designs that delivered measurable results. This will be invaluable to Digimarc, our customers and partners, and our ability to counsel the industry about the benefits of the Digimarc Barcode."
With Okin's arrival, Digimarc continues its trend of strategic new hires as the company seeks to bolster expertise in areas such as design, sales and marketing, engineering, operations, and IT.
