Digi Strengthens Data Security and Protects Financial Transactions with New PCI-Certified Compliance
Report on Compliance Audit Confirms PCI DSS Level 1 Status for Digi's Device Cloud Enabling Retailers and Financial Services Firms to Securely Manage Distributed Network Kiosks and Point-of-Service Terminals Worldwide
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII), the M2M solutions expert, today announced that its Digi Remote Manager™ has achieved certified compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). As a result, customers in retailing, financial services, and other security-conscious industries can reliably manage a unified global portfolio of Digi networking devices with certified PCI-compliant security from a single operations center and a common set of tools.
Digi recently completed a Report on Compliance (ROC) audit to earn the designation as a fully certified Level 1 Managed Service Provider for PCI DSS. Now, companies can securely manage distributed networks of TransPort™ 4G LTE routers for retail kiosks, ATMs and payment terminals while meeting the strict PCI standard. Relying on Digi's remote device management solution eases the PCI compliance burden so companies can streamline their corporate PCI compliance efforts.
Digi is among the first device cloud platforms to earn the ROC certification, which confirms that the company's cloud-based software fully complies with the 12 PCI DSS provisions for protecting and securing payment data. These include the use of firewalls and encryption of cardholder data as well as policies, procedures, and testing of security processes.
PCI DSS is the security standard promulgated by The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, defining a series of standards and practices for rigorously protecting cardholder data when in transit and in storage. The Council was formed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International and now is supported by hundreds of financial services institutions and merchants.
"We are proud to be one of the first device cloud platforms to achieve Level 1 Service Provider PCI DSS status," said Donald Schleede, information security officer for Digi. "This means that Digi customers can quickly build and deploy products and services – driven by Digi solutions – knowing that they will immediately support rigorous PCI security standards. Given the profound and prominent consequences of breaches and lapses in payment security, this effort by Digi brings our clients – and their customers – greater confidence."
