THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn., Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- National Engineers Week 2019 in North America is fast approaching and Digi-Key Electronics, a global electronic components distributor, is holding its 5th annual celebration of the event which was created by the National Society of Professional Engineers. The theme of 2019 is "Engineers: Invent Amazing" and Digi-Key is offering tools, resources, and insight to help engineers continue to invent the latest and greatest through their products and designs. Engineers visiting digikey.com can win prizes to enable their new and improved designs.
In continuation of activities held annually by Digi-Key, the company will feature a link to a daily word jumble on the homepage of its website beginning Monday, February 18. Each day, 25 participants who answer correctly will be chosen at random to receive one of five prizes from B&K Precision, FLIR, Fluke, Pomona, or TE Connectivity. In addition, participants who submit a correct answer for the daily puzzles will be automatically entered for the drawing of the grand prize of a Digi-Key InstaLab Kit sponsored by KEMET, for a total of up to five entries. The InstaLab contains everything you need to measure, observe, design, and make your electronics ideas a reality.
Also, in their ongoing support of STEM in schools, Digi-Key will be spending the entire week working with local schools in a community outreach effort. Engineering employees and special guests will be visiting with the local grade school, middle school, and high school to talk about the value of engineering and technology as well as help students with hands-on projects, including programming with MicroPython.
Digi-Key would like to give a special thanks to 3M, Cirrus Logic, Fluke, Hakko, Littelfuse, LulzBot, Pomona, Pulse Electronics, VersaSense, and Weller for their support of the company's community outreach activities.
"National Engineers Week gives Digi-Key an opportunity to highlight the innovation and advancement of electronics and technology by our customers and employees, both in small and grand ways," said Randall Restle, VP, Applications Engineering. "We also want to bring engineering to life for students and educators to enable their creativity and help them realize their potential to invent amazing things and create engineering opportunities for many, many years to come."
