DIG IT YOURSELF Container Gardening Expo at Denver Pavilions in Downtown Denver
DENVER, May 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dig It Yourself, a container gardening demo and sale, will be held at the Denver Pavilions on Saturday, June 1, from 11am-4pm in the plaza by Forever 21. Luan Akin and Rob Proctor from popular Denver-area garden center Tagawa Gardens will show area residents how to grow container gardens on small patio and balcony spaces. Edible plants and vegetables will also be available for purchase.
Luan Akin, former TV reporter turned Tagawa Gardens Outreach Ambassador, will lead four container gardening demos featuring edible plants. The demos will focus on the best growing practices for small balcony or patio spaces that face each of the four directions—north, east, west, and south. In addition, 9News Garden Expert Rob Proctor will offer container gardening demos featuring plants and flowers for "Urban Canyons." A demonstration of space-saving, "Picture Garden" vertical gardening will also be featured. Both Akin and Proctor will be on hand to answer container gardening questions.
Says Akin, "There are many creative ways to make the best possible use of limited patio or balcony space in the Denver-area community. At the Dig It Yourself event, we're looking forward to sharing the latest in gardening information, techniques, and trends with experienced gardeners and novices alike."
Dig It Yourself will take place on the Denver Pavilions north plaza, street level, in front of Forever 21. A vine-themed stilt walker from Eyesoar Performance will be onsite to entertain garden enthusiasts and attendees. Families can also have their pictures taken against a colorful, custom-designed Denver backdrop.
Denver Pavilions will offer free pedicab service from downtown areas to the Dig It Yourself event from 12-3. Attendees are also welcome to bring wagons to cart home purchased plants.
