Together with retail partner Walgreens, Differin will celebrate Retinoid Education Week and the launch of the Clear90 app through educational content, in-store touchpoints, and sales promotions. The Retinoid Education Week efforts will provide consumers with information to further help them understand how retinoids – and a consistent skincare routine – work to effectively treat adult acne. The robust campaign also will include TV, digital, influencer and social content about retinoids as well as education on them from a leading dermatologist.
With Clear90, Differin has created a one-of-a-kind app where users can track their acne journey to help them achieve clear skin in 90 days. While people with acne may be taking steps to get clear skin, compliance and adhering to a consistent skincare routine can be a challenge. The new app provides a supportive tool that can help consumers reach their acne-free goals by holding them accountable throughout their skincare transformation process.
According to the American Psychological Association, "if you're trying to achieve a goal, the more often that you monitor your progress, the greater likelihood that you will succeed. Your chances of success are even more likely if you report progress publicly or physically record it.1" This notion inspired the conception and design of the Clear90 app, which encourages users to snap a selfie every day and at the end of 90 days, look back at a unique time-lapse of their journey to clear skin. The new app also sends daily reminders, tips, and product discounts throughout the journey as additional motivation to stay on track.
"Acne is one of the most common and frustrating skin conditions my patients deal with, and although there is a lot of information out there, there continues to be misconceptions and a lack of understanding about how to effectively treat the condition," says Differin Consulting Dermatologist and Board-Certified Dermatologist at Union Square Laser Dermatology, Dr. Claire Chang. "Retinoids have been trusted to treat acne by dermatologists like myself for decades, but we need to continue educating consumers on how to use them correctly and consistently as part of their overall skin care routine. Retinoid Education Week provides a great opportunity to do just that. With the launch of the Clear90 app, patients will be better equipped to get – and keep – clear skin."
Unlike spot treatments, topical retinoids, like Differin Gel (adapalene 0.1%), are applied to the whole face and regulate skin cell turnover to keep pores from clogging, ultimately restoring skin tone and texture by clearing acne. This takes some time to take effect, as best results are typically achieved after 90 days of consistent use, although one may start to see results in as little as two weeks. In fact, in clinical studies, Differin Gel provided up to an 87% reduction in acne lesions after 12 weeks, which will continue to improve with further use,2 so it is important to stick with the treatment.
"As a leader in treating adult acne, we are committed to continually innovating and bringing new, clinically-proven products and technologies to the marketplace that can help consumers treat the full lifecycle of acne," says June Risser, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Business at Galderma. "In addition to bringing efficacious products to consumers, we're continuing to innovate by bringing easy-to-use technologies that will help millions of people with acne achieve healthy looking skin."
Consumers can start on their journey to clear skin by visiting Walgreens stores for various savings throughout March.
