PORTSMOUTH, N.H. and LAS VEGAS, Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Featuring dozens of topics addressed by 50+ leading differentiated instruction experts, a strand of sessions at the 2019 SDE National Conference will be dedicated to reaching all learners in today's diverse classroom. The Differentiated Instruction strand will be held July 8–12 in Las Vegas, NV.
"Differentiated instruction is needed now more than ever. All students are different. And teachers are expected to meet each student where they are. This timely conference provides today's top DI strategies for tomorrow's implementation," according to Laureen Reynolds, SDE program developer.
The Differentiated Instruction strand will deliver the strategies K–12 teachers asked for including classroom and behavior management, special populations, elementary and secondary STEM, school culture and administrator walk-throughs, struggling readers and writers, trauma-sensitive environments, student engagement, elementary and secondary math, and whole-group, small-group and 1:1 differentiation.
In a full week of innovative learning, educators will discover the steps to purposefully planning for differentiation in every part of their school day. They'll uncover the secrets to boosting engagement and motivation by creating a student-centered learning environment. This is also the place to find out how to focus intervention efforts through a multi-tiered system of supports, engage under-served students and reduce achievement gaps, and build a community that celebrates diversity in experiences and abilities.
Featured differentiate instruction experts include Rick Wormeli, veteran educator and one of the first National Board Certified Teachers in America; Kendrick Johnson, expert in culturally relevant and responsive teaching; Kayla Delzer, award-winning teacher and author; Matthew Kay, author of Not Light But Fire: How to Lead Meaningful Race Conversations in the Classroom; and Debbie Diller, author of Literacy Work Stations, and many more.
Attendees may choose from sessions based on the most requested DI topics, including:
