SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In a classic confrontation between "small town USA" and the "big city," the Super Bowl XLV match-up of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers is truly represented in the two city's automotive choices.

TrueCar.com, the authority on new car pricing, forecasts and trends, recently completed an extensive study of the differences in automotive buying habits of the two cities and discovered that rural Green Bay and urban Pittsburgh reflect their city's demographic when it comes to auto buying habits.
Of the highest selling brands in 2010, Green Bay residents prefer domestic brands while Pittsburgh residents opt for more imports. The brands with the highest percentage of buyers from Green Bay include Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, Dodge and Honda. Of the top 10, half are domestics. The brands preferred by Pittsburgh buyers include Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. Of the top 10, only four are domestics.
"Green Bay and Pittsburgh really represent different sides of the coin," said Jesse Toprak, VP of Trends and Insights at TrueCar.com. "According to data collected on recent new car purchasers, a majority of Green Bay is interested in outdoor activities while Pittsburgh is just the opposite, enjoying indoor, tech-heavy activities. This is reflected in the cars they buy, with Green Bay leaning toward domestic trucks while Pittsburgh purchases more fuel efficient compact cars and crossovers."
According to the survey of the five best selling models in 2010 in Green Bay four are either Trucks or SUV's and are domestic brands. The top five in Green Bay, Wisconsin include:
