Diet-to-Go and Local Fitness Clubs Team Up to Fight Fat Through: Fall into Fitness 10-Week Weight Loss Challenge
LORTON, Va., Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Promoting a common sense approach to healthy eating and exercise; providing tools and support to facilitate long-term weight loss success; arming participants with the knowledge needed to enter the holiday eating season better prepared; and improving participant's ability to start the New Year in a healthier place: these are the goals behind Diet-to-Go's 10-Week Weight Loss Challenge program. The program will run from Monday, September 12 to Friday, November 18, 2011.
Diet-to-Go, the meal delivery company that makes healthy eating easy and affordable by providing fresh, delicious, low-calorie, nutritionally balanced meals, has designed a 10-week weight loss challenge program that will be delivered through participating health clubs around the region: Fall into Fitness. In collaboration with Registered Dietitian, Rebecca Mohning, Diet-to-Go developed this program with the goal of helping participants establish a common sense approach to healthy eating and exercise. Diet-to-Go wants to change perceptions of what it means to eat healthy and change behaviors so that making smart food choices and exercising are a way of life.
The Fall into Fitness 10-Week Weight Loss Challenge includes all the components of successful weight loss programs: nutrition instruction, exercise coaching, group support and personal accountability. The competitive component was added to make the Challenge more fun and promote a sense of community within the clubs.
Diet-to-Go timed the Challenge (runs from the Monday after Labor Day, September 12 to the Friday before Thanksgiving, November 18) so as to preempt the common overindulgence that tends to coincide with the holidays. Diet-to-Go's aim is to enable Challenge participants to experience weight loss success before the holiday season begins allowing them an opportunity to start the season stronger, healthier and thinner. The belief is that armed with recent success and new knowledge and tools, the Challenge participants can handle the holidays better and start the New Year off with solid, common sense healthy eating and exercise habits in place.
Participants will agree to adhere to the challenge "rules" which include attending mandatory weekly weigh-ins and keeping a daily food journal. In exchange they will receive weekly nutritional instruction in which a new health topic will be addressed as well as weekly information emails that will emphasize the week's diet/nutrition theme and to keep them motivated. The winners, the man and woman with the highest percentage of weight loss, will be announced on the Friday before Thanksgiving, November 18 and will receive prizes from Diet-to-Go and their local health club.
