Diebold Hires Brown as Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development, Promotes Angelo to Vice President, Chief Information Officer

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) today announced two key appointments to its corporate leadership team.  The company has hired Alex Brown to fill the role of vice president, corporate strategy and development.  Additionally, Diebold promoted Scott M. Angelo to vice president and chief information officer.

Brown will be responsible for helping Diebold identify and consummate successful corporate growth strategies and investments with an emphasis on acquisitions and strategic partnerships.  "We are very pleased to have Alex join the Diebold team," said Thomas W. Angelo will be responsible for leading and overseeing the operations of Diebold's global information technology organization.  He will also retain oversight of the company's information and global risk and security operations.  "Scott has played an integral role in building our world-class information security organization, and he possesses a refined knowledge of information systems and processes," Swidarski said.  "Scott's experience at Diebold and diverse background in security, IT systems and processes will drive improvements crucial to maintaining a successful IT organization."

Brown most recently served as a partner at Marakon, an executive management consulting firm based in Chicago.  In addition, he has had management and consultancy positions at Huron Consulting Group, Axeleration Inc., and A.T. Kearney Inc.  Brown also held leadership positions in the U.S. Army from 1990-1992.

A native of Chicago, Brown will be relocating to the Akron/Canton, Ohio, area.  He holds a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a bachelor's degree in international relations from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Angelo most recently served as vice president and chief security officer at Diebold.  He joined Diebold in 2006 as vice president and chief information security officer. Before joining Diebold, Angelo held other security management positions with Ernst & Young LLP, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He served as a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1986 through 2001.

Angelo is a native of Uniontown, Pa.  He received a bachelor's degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa., a master's degree in information systems from George Washington University in Washington D.C., and a master's degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  Angelo completed the Security Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
