NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Dec. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE:DBD) today announced that Wico E. van Genderen has been named vice president of the company's Asia Pacific (AP) operations. He fills the role previously held by Daniel Hu, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

In his new role, van Genderen will be responsible for all operations within the AP region. He will focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with the company's customers in AP, and will identify new business opportunities. He will also be responsible for leading key development and quality improvement projects to meet market and customer demands.

A 20-year Diebold veteran, van Genderen most recently served as vice president, global marketing and product management, where he was responsible for all Diebold's solution sets, product life cycle management, market and product requirements and product launches. Prior to this role, van Genderen was vice president, customer business solutions, with responsibility for sales to approximately 14,000 banks and credit unions throughout the United States. During his career, he has held various sales and marketing leadership positions at Diebold, including vice president, sales, U.S. Eastern region; regional manager, Mid-Atlantic states; and manager, ATM product planning and management with InterBold, Diebold and IBM's former financial self-service joint venture. Before joining Diebold in 1991, van Genderen held financial industry sales management positions with IBM.
A native of Uden, Netherlands raised in the United States, van Genderen will relocate to Shanghai, China, where the position is based. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and business from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in management information systems from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa.
