DICK'S Sporting Goods Announces Relocated Store to Open This Week at Cranberry Crossroads in Cranberry Township, PA Weekend of festivities includes appearances by Larry Foote, Jamie Dixon, Neil Walker and more
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DICK'S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS), the largest U.S. based full-line sporting goods retailer, will be opening its relocated store this week at Cranberry Crossing, 2021 Mackenzie Way. The store will open its doors on Wednesday, October 17 and celebrate its launch with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 19 at 8:00 a.m. Special extended store hours will also be in effect for Friday (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.), Saturday (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
DICK'S Sporting Goods also has a variety of special athlete appearances and giveaways scheduled to celebrate the relocation.
On Friday, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote will be meeting and greeting customers from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.* Foote's career with the Steelers began in 2002 and has included two Super Bowl Championships. During the 2005 AFC Championship Game, Foote ended a comeback rally by the Denver Broncos by intercepting quarterback Jake Plummer's pass. The Steelers went on to win to win Super Bowl XL.
Additionally on Friday, there will be a Mystery Gift Card Giveaway for the first 100 adults in line, who will receive unmarked DICK'S Sporting Goods gift cards in varying denominations from $5 to $500, with one person winning the $500 card. (Limit one per person and must be 18 years or older.)
Saturday's schedule will feature a special appearance by University of Pittsburgh men's basketball head coach Jamie Dixon from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.** Dixon has been the head men's basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh since 2003, and during that time he has compiled a 238-77 record. He has led the Panthers to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including an appearance in the Elite Eight in 2009, and has won numerous national coaching awards.
Additional appearances on Saturday include professional bass angler Skeet Reese from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.*** and fly-fishing author and lifelong Pennsylvania resident Charles Meck from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.***
Professional second baseman and Pittsburgh native Neil Walker will round out the week's festivities with an in-store appearance on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.**** Walker was one of the National League's top rookies in 2010 when he hit .296. In 2011, he placed among the league leaders in doubles, and this season set a career-high in home runs. Pittsburgh Penguins mascot "Iceburgh" will also be meeting and greeting customers on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.***
Throughout the weekend, customers will be able to enter for the chance to win an Epic A35T Treadmill and a Nishiki Kinzua29 Limited Edition bicycle. There will also be opportunities for customers to meet with certified bike and lodge technicians and PGA/LPGA professionals, as well as additional activities throughout the store.
