Dickey's Barbecue Pit is Officially Smoking in Eau Claire
State's first franchise teams up with American Cancer Society for Grand Opening
EAU CLAIRE, Wis., Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Wisconsin's first Dickey's Barbecue Pit will hold its grand opening on Thursday, August 11 in Eau Claire with a promotion to win free barbecue for a year and one dollar sandwiches all day.
Famous for its slow-smoked signature meats and home-style sides, the Texas-based chain will celebrate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. while patrons enjoy dollar barbecue sandwiches all day at 311 E. Clairemont Avenue.
"It's exciting to introduce a new type of restaurant to Wisconsin, particularly in my hometown and to the friendly people of the Chippewa Valley," said Dan Pekol, who also operates Chippewa Valley Airport Service. "I know Dickey's will be received well in Eau Claire. It is a great place to live and a great place to do business."
Wisconsin's welcome reception towards Dickey's Barbecue Pit is encouraging to the success of the franchisee.

The restaurant will partner with the American Cancer Society, an organization that Pekol has been actively involved with for over a decade, at the Grand Opening. Twenty percent of net sales will be donated to the Altoona-based chapter.
Barbecue sandwiches will be $1 all day.
Dickey's is growing at a rapid pace with 163 locations open in 38 states to date.
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.
The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Dickey's only began franchising in 1994.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
