Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Wesley Chapel Opens New Section
Country's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Expands Original Location to Help Meet Demand
WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla., May 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit will complete the 2,182-square-foot renovation to its Wesley Chapel location this Friday.
"The new space will give us the opportunity to seat more customers which will avoid the issue of people getting their food and not having a place to sit. One added benefit will be that we will be able to seat larger groups of 10 or more together in the new space. This will allow us to offer space for business and community group lunch meetings. Wesley Chapel is a growing community and we look forward to continue to grow with the area," said Charlotte Dykes, who owns the location with her husband, Ron.
To mark the restaurant's first anniversary, the couple decided to add 370-square-feet to Dickey's Barbecue Pit because it is often filled to capacity with standing room only nearly every Sunday.
"We have been very well received by the Wesley Chapel community and also by people in surrounding communities as far away as Temple Terrace and Dade City. Our customers regularly say that we have the best barbecue in the Tampa Bay area! We feel extremely fortunate to have experienced this growth during these difficult economic times," said Charlotte.
The location opened on April 1, 2010 on 2653 Bruce B Downs Blvd to a community hungry for barbecue.
"The most rewarding aspect of owning and operating Dickey's in Wesley Chapel is getting to know our customers. We have lots of "regulars" who eat with us once or twice a week, or sometimes more. Everyone has been extremely supportive of our new business and our customers tell us how much they want us to succeed," Dykes said.
Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their hot pit-smoked signature meats, complimentary ice cream and the big yellow cups.
"We are so thrilled the Dykes are expanding their location in the Wesley Chapel community," President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. Roland Dickey, Jr. said. "In trying economic times, it's encouraging to see someone reach the ability to grow and succeed."
Dickey's Barbecue Pit serves up 9 different hickory-smoked meats that are slow cooked every night, along with a vast array of home-style sides to the Wesley Chapel area.
Since early 2011, Dickey's has opened 12 stores nationwide and 60 are set to open before the end of 2011.
The preparation prior to opening a Dickey's franchise is extensive, ensuring that owner/operators are thoroughly prepared to hit the ground running.
"We have so many new owner/operators who are investing with us. With this economy, we are glad people trust us for success and we certainly don't take that for granted. Their victory is our victory and we don't plan on going anywhere but up," Dickey said.
The original Dallas location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue Pit is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
There are 147 locations in 33 states.
