Dickey's Barbecue Pit Hits Abilene With Brisket

ABILENE, Texas, June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dwain Carpenter sets out to open the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest quick-serve barbecue chain in the country, in his Abilene community.

"I like being around people, as well as having opportunities to help other people and I have always felt that the restaurant business would allow me to do this. After the past 10 years of investigating franchises, I came across the Dickey's franchise. I was drawn to it because I love barbeque and so many other people do as well. When I ate at Dickey's I liked the food and the environment was comfortable and welcoming," Carpenter said.

This is the first Dickey's Barbecue for Abilene and the first franchise opportunity for Dwain Carpenter, a graduate of Hardin Simmons University.

"My favorite part about this experience so far is the food, the quick service and the opportunity of being part of the Dickey's franchise," Carpenter said.

Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their pit-smoked signature meats, complimentary ice cream and the big yellow cups.
