Dickey's Barbecue Pit Donates Proceeds to Leander and Cedar Park School Districts
America's Fastest-Growing Barbecue Chain Partners with DealsThatMatter
AUSTIN, Texas, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit will donate 15 percent of all sales to the Leander and Cedar Park school districts.
"We want to help out when the state cannot," said Allen Trong, the franchise owner and operator. "While schools continue to suffer through significant cuts in funding, we want to help fill the gap as much as possible."
The store plans to continue this partnership with DealsThatMatter indefinitely in an effort to give back to the Cedar Park and Leander communities.
"Hopefully this will not only raise a strong donation, but bring awareness to our school systems and the lack of funding," Trong said.
The interest to give back to public schools began when the store donated $500 worth of merchandise to help the Cedar Park High School football team after the booster club funds ran out.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened at 401 W Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park in January of 2009.
Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit asks all owner/operators to give back to their communities in an impactful way.
"Allen is giving back to his surrounding community in a big way and we are proud to provide him with a platform through Dickey's Barbecue," Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. CEO Roland Dickey said. "We want our owner/operators to take the value of community stewardship along with the barbecue to their neighbors and friends."
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX and is still open for business.
Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
