"This is a huge year for us, we are turning 70 and expanding at an unbelievable rate of 46 percent growth rate," said Roland Dickey, Jr., President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. "We are grateful to each and every community that supports our restaurant and want to give back in a big way."
Alongside the $1 sandwiches and drinks until 3 p.m., the final round of the national barbecue eating competition will be held at the original Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dallas, TX at 5 p.m.
"The national barbecue eating competition will be great to watch, along with the tower of barbecue sandwiches," said Dickey. "I'm looking forward to this celebration after such a remarkable year; the hard work is paying off."
Not afraid to go big, Dickey's Barbecue will also attempt a Guinness Book World Record for the tallest tower of barbecue sandwiches that same day.
While the anniversary offer will be available at all locations nationwide, the events will only take place at 4610 N. Central Expressway in Dallas, the original Dickey's Barbecue Pit location.
Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in Dallas during 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is well-known for their pit-smoked signature meats, complimentary ice cream and the big yellow cups.
The original Dallas location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue Pit is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
There are 174 locations in 35 states.
