Dickey's Barbecue Pit Celebrates One Year Anniversary In Chino
America's Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Holds Customer Appreciation Event
CHINO, Calif., June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- America's largest quick-serve barbecue restaurant will hold their Customer Appreciation event on Saturday, July 2, at the Chino location with a promotion offering pulled pork sandwiches at $1 with the purchase of one at full price.
"Chino is our community and when people come in to our restaurant, they are home," said franchisee Chris Green, a Los Angeles Police Office and former U.S. Marine.
Local owner/operators Chris Green and his wife, Mercedes, will celebrate one year of success in the Chino community with the promotion running all day in gratitude of their loyal customers.
"I attribute 90 percent of the restaurant's success over the past year to my wife. Mercedes is the reason we are successful. She's in the store everyday, handling the daily operations, and I come in on the weekends or when we have big catering orders," said Green.
This is the first Dickey's Barbecue franchise for Chris and Mercedes who wanted to embark on this venture together and locally.
The two share a common recipe for success: "It is easy to give up instead of putting forth your best effort in order to get ahead. It takes putting in time and dedication in order to succeed! Success is hanging on when others have let go," said Chris.
After growing up in Memphis, Chris enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1984 and was stationed on the West Coast. He was honorably discharged in 1990, when he joined the LAPD.
"I moved to Chino in 1993 and it was always a dream to open a restaurant here. It took 25 years, but Mercedes and I finally have our own restaurant."
Chris celebrated 21 years with the Los Angeles Police Department this year, leaving the daily operations of the restaurant to Mercedes.
"Owning our own restaurant is exactly what we expected it would be, long hours and a lot of hard work," said Green who plans to retire from the police force in 3 years.
The event will be held at 11971 Central Avenue, where customers can buy one pulled pork sandwich and receive the second for $1 throughout the day.
Dickey's is growing at a rapid pace with 147 locations open in 33 states to date.
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.
The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Dickey's only began franchising in 1994.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
