Dickey's Barbecue Hosts First "Cruise-In" Fundraiser in Gramling This Weekend
America's Fastest-Growing Barbecue Chain Supports Fundraiser for Children's Hospitals
GRAMLING, S.C., Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit will host its first "Cruise-In" fundraiser at 13291 Asheville Hwy on September 10.
"We are really excited to host this event," said Bill Friend, the franchise owner and operator of two locations in South Carolina. "We have put on the same event at our restaurant in Taylors with positive feedback and hope to generate similar support. This is our first event in Gramling and we plan to raise a large donation for a charity that supports Children's Hospitals in the area."
The event features live music by Hands in Time and will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Gramling.
"Hopefully this will not only raise a strong donation, but generate a great showing of classic cars in the area," Friend said.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit anticipates drawing a large crowd and encourages everyone in the community to come out and showcase their own classic cars.
"Bill is giving back to the community in a big way and we are proud to provide him with a platform through Dickey's Barbecue Pit," Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. CEO Roland Dickey said. "We want our owner/operators to take the value of community stewardship along with the barbecue to their neighbors and friends."
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX and is still open for business.
Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
