Dickey's Barbecue Archway Partners With United Way

KEARNEY, Neb., July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue is cruising for a local cause. The barbecue chain located in the Great Platte River Road Archway is participating in the annual Cruise Nite event and giving a portion of sales to a local charity. On July 20, from 4pm to 9pm, the barbecue chain will give $1 from every sandwich sold to the United Way.

"The Kearney community has been so supportive to us and we're happy to have the opportunity to give back," said Richard Cochran, owner of both Dickey's Barbecue locations in Kearney along with his wife, Cheryl, and partners Larry and Sue Tyler. "The United Way of Kearney offers so many needed community education and health programs -- we are honored to partner with this great organization."

Dickey's Archway location will also be offering a "Chuckwagon Special" during the Cruise Nite to kick off event. The special will include a Big Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich, a home style side and a drink for only $7.50.

"We've had so much fun being in the Archway this summer," said Cochran. "Traffic has really increased now that the museum has a consistent food option and we've meet so many nice people."

Cruise Nite has expanded from a one-day car show 25 years ago into a five-day event featuring activities that more than 30,000 people attend. Cruise Nite gives a $3 million bump to the local economy and also benefits local charities such as the United Way which in turn give back to the community through education and health initiatives.
